27 Weeks! HELLO 3rd TRIMESTER!!! =)

I can't believe we have hit the 3rd trimester! We just have 13 short weeks to go.

I am happy to report the baby's room is finally under way! Craig and his dad took care of the mold/dry rot issues and our house is having the stucco (that was ripped off last week in order to fix the above mentioned) finished today.

Over the weekend Craig replaced the drywall in the baby's room and his dad taped/textured it the last day or two. As soon as Craiger puts up the moulding (chair rail and base) we can paint!

We decided to a chair rail and picked a color to go up top and a color to go on the bottom.

Here's what we picked…

April Blush (for the top)

Sparrow (for the bottom)

I think it's a pretty color combo and will go nicely with our baby girl's black, white and light pink theme!

I am freaking ecstatic because over the weekend we also picked out and picked UP our laminate flooring! I have been nagging Craig for months about this (go ahead… ask him!). Our carpet is horrible and disgusting. We picked out a beautiful laminate and even though it's sitting in our house still on boxes, I am happier than a pig in sh!t =)

Here's the flooring we picked…

I can't wait to show you a picture of it actually installed in our house!

I can't express to you how happy I am that everything is finally starting to get done.

There are lots of good things ahead. Next week is a big week for us… 3D ultrasound, our first child birthing class AND MY BABY SHOWER!!!!! I could sceam, I am so excited!

Your pregnancy: 27 weeks

How your baby's growing:

This week, your baby weighs almost 2 pounds (like a head of cauliflower) and is about 14 1/2 inches long with her legs extended. She's sleeping and waking at regular intervals, opening and closing her eyes, and perhaps even sucking her fingers. With more brain tissue developing, your baby's brain is very active now. While her lungs are still immature, they would be capable of functioning — with a lot of medical help — if she were to be born now. Chalk up any tiny rhythmic movements you may be feeling to a case of baby hiccups, which may be common from now on. Each episode usually lasts only a few moments, and they don't bother her, so just relax and enjoy the tickle.

How your life's changing:

The second trimester is drawing to a close, but as your body gears up for the final lap, you may start noticing some new symptoms. Along with an aching back, for example, you may find that your leg muscles cramp up now and then. They're carrying extra weight, after all, and your expanding uterus is putting pressure on the veins that return blood from your legs to your heart as well as on the nerves leading from your trunk to your legs. Unfortunately, the cramps may get worse as your pregnancy progresses. Leg cramps are more common at night but can also happen during the day. When a cramp strikes, stretching the calf muscle should give you some relief. Straighten your leg and then gently flex your toes back toward your shin. Walking for a few minutes or massaging your calf sometimes helps, too.

It may be the furthest thing from your mind right now, but it's not too soon to think about family planning. You'll want to have made some decisions about postpartum birth control before your baby arrives. If you're considering a tubal ligation, be aware that most states require you to sign a consent form at least 30 days beforehand. So if you'd like the option of having the surgery during your postpartum hospital stay, don't wait too much longer to discuss it with your caregiver. (You can still change your mind later.)

I can tell you that I am definitely feeling some growth happening in my belly. I can feel myself making room for that baby girl to get bigger. The last couple days I can feel some stretching happening. I am just hoping and praying there are no stretch marks left behind from this! =) A girl can dream!

Yeah for 27 weeks! That is great that your baby's room is under way. Your colors are beautiful! And the flooring to replace the carpet in your house is very nice!! It sounds like you have an exciting and busy week next week. We have our 3D u/s tomorrow and our childbirth classes start the 4the August. Since I am not having a shower, my mom is visiting in 3 weeks to go shopping. I am happy to hear things are going so well!! Hope you can escape the stretch marks!!!
